A Video Wall is an Investment: Be Sure Your Installer Knows what They are Doing

Polaris digital signage

Installing a video wall means crafting a flawless, scalable visual experience that looks great from every angle. Whether your wall will serve a command center, lobby, showroom or event space, here’s what truly matters:

Your “Why”

Your Columbus use case shapes every decision: layout, resolution, brightness and controls.

The right display technology

The choices are LCD panels, LED tiles and projection-based displays:

  1. LCD panels are budget-friendly and provide decent quality, but have bezels (lines between panels).
  2. LED tiles allow for seamless images. They are bright and scalable.
  3. Projection-based displays enable a huge image, but require low light and large throws.

A “regular” video wall uses LCD panels: multiple flat-panel TVs or monitors arranged in a grid. An LED video wall uses tiny light-emitting diodes as individual pixels. There are no screens—the wall is a grid of LEDs.

Appropriate brightness and ambient light

For a bright lobby, you need high-nit displays. In a controlled environment, standard brightness is fine. Outdoors, weatherproof, ultra-bright LED walls work best.

Content resolution and source

For best results, we recommend matching or exceeding the native resolution of your content. It is smart to plan for scaling down the line. We use reliable media players from a number of trusted manufacturers.

Precision mounting

This is one of the most important skills video wall installation companies bring to the table. Your installer will make sure the location you have selected can support the weight of your video wall, then mount and align your panels precisely for exact content continuity.

Ventilation and power

Large displays generate heat. Your installer can make sure you have enough space around your wall for airflow and cooling. Most of our larger LED wall projects include redundant power supplies or surge protection.

Control and management

We suggest an easy-to-use CMS or AV control platform. Remote management is advised for scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting. We can build in presets as your application requires for simple content changes.

Calibration and tuning

A Midwest installation in Columbus, whether a standard LCD system or an LED video wall setup for a conference room or boardroom, includes color and brightness calibration. Uniformity across panels matters; one off-color screen will ruin your whole wall.

Serviceability

Midwest provides easy access to wiring, inputs and panels. We plan our cable runs carefully, and offer warranties, service plans and training to make sure your video wall serves you well far into the future.
