System design is a meticulous five-step process at Midwest Audio Visual. Our strategy integrates technology, user needs and the AV environment.
Here’s an overview of the typical process that leads to a cost-effective Midwest AV system solution.
First, we conduct a thorough needs assessment
We listen carefully to understand how you will use the new or upgraded system:
- How would you like to use this space?
- Will it primarily be used for presentations, collaboration, entertainment, training or something else?
- Who will use the system?
- What is their technical proficiency?
- Do they have specific system preferences?
We then assess the environment: Is the space a classroom, boardroom, auditorium or outdoor space (like a stadium)?
The dimensions and layout of the room will impact the placement of screens, projectors, speakers and microphones for optimal coverage.
Lighting is also part of our investigation. We account for natural and artificial light to avoid glare and maintain screen visibility. In bright environments, we suggest ambient light-rejecting (ALR) screens or high-lumen projectors.
The last thing we analyze is acoustics: reverberation, background noise and sound isolation. Depending on your situation, you may need soundproofing materials, acoustic panels or sound masking.
Next, we write specifications and select components based on your situation
Our system design recommendations usually include specific:
- displays and projectors,
- audio components,
- control systems,
- cameras and
- connectivity and collaboration tools.
Then comes infrastructure and cable planning
Cable management in the design for your Cincinnati AV system may include structured cabling (Cat6, fiber optics) for AV-over-IP setups, ensuring neat and scalable installation.
We plan for adequate power outlets, surge protection and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
Finally, your designer will assess your bandwidth needs for video streaming, AV-over-IP and device connectivity. If needed, managed switches will prioritize AV traffic.
Preparing for scalability and future-proofing
Our designers select components that allow for easy upgrades or additions. They plan for compatibility with 8K video, AI-driven features or IoT integration, using open standards like Dante (audio), HDBaseT (video and control) and AV-over-IP for flexibility.
Double-checking that the user experience will be excellent
Before a plan is finalized, we make sure it has intuitive control interfaces like touchscreens, apps and voice commands. Training and detailed manuals for seamless operation are part of every package, as is accessibility; we design for inclusivity with features like
- closed captions,
- hearing loops or
- adjustable controls.
Installation, testing, calibration, maintenance and ongoing support are also part of the Midwest AV design package.
